Children and teens face many challenges as they grow, but therapy may be helpful when emotional, behavioral, or social difficulties begin to interfere with daily life. Signs may include persistent sadness, anxiety, irritability, difficulty managing emotions, behavioral concerns at home or school, changes in sleep or appetite, withdrawal from friends or activities, or struggles related to family changes, grief, or stressful experiences. Therapy provides a safe and supportive space for children and teens to develop coping skills, build resilience, and navigate life's challenges.

The length of therapy depends on your child’s needs, goals, and level of family support. On average, families see major changes in 15-20 sessions. Some families come for short-term support around a specific challenge, while other families prefer to have long-term support in place. Sessions typically start on a weekly or biweekly basis and then move to a biweekly or monthly basis before termination.
We’ll talk through your goals and adjust the pace as we go, so the process feels supportive and realistic for your family.

Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) is a developmentally appropriate approach that helps children express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences through play, which is their natural form of communication. In this approach, the therapist creates a safe, supportive, and accepting environment where the child is free to lead the session while the therapist follows their lead, reflects feelings, and provides consistent emotional support. Through play, children are able to process difficult emotions, work through experiences, and develop healthier coping skills. CCPT can help improve emotional regulation, self-esteem, behavior, and overall emotional well-being without requiring children to rely on verbal expression alone.

The Parent(s)/Guardian(s) will attend the initial intake session without the child to discuss their concerns and explore treatment options. Intake paperwork is completed electronically prior to the first appointment via the client portal. Please bring your insurance card and a copy of your ID to this session.
Clients ages 16 and older will complete their own intake paperwork and be present for their intake session.

As a child and adolescent therapist, I provide a warm, supportive, and developmentally attuned space where young people feel safe to express themselves. I focus on understanding each child’s unique emotional world, behavior patterns, and family dynamics while meeting them at their level through age-appropriate approaches such as play, talk therapy, and skill-building. My work emphasizes emotional regulation, coping skills, self-esteem, and healthy communication, while also collaborating closely with parents and caregivers to support progress at home, school, and in daily life.
